Story:

At Guided by Nature, we believe the right guide can transform a great walk into an unforgettable journey.  We carefully partner with passionate local experts who know their landscapes inside out — and every so often, you might spot a familiar face from Tasmanian Walking Company too.

Because Tas Walking Co helped curate the Guided by Nature collection, it’s only natural that some of their most experienced guides occasionally bring their spirit, care, and love of wild places to trails around the world. It's a hidden surprise when one of them joins your walk — blending deep local knowledge with the Tas Walking Co touch.

Get to know a few of the faces you might find leading your next Guided by Nature adventure.

Eduardo — Torres Del Paine & Overland Track

Edo’s journey with us has been as wild and wonderful as the landscapes he loves.
Originally from South America, Eduardo’s guiding career started in places like Patagonia before he made his way to Tasmania to join the Tas Walking Co team. Today, he’s most often found leading guests across the Overland Track — but a couple of times a year, he heads back to his roots, guiding on the trails of Torres del Paine for Guided by Nature

Fluent in English and Spanish, Edo brings an easy connection to every group, blending deep understanding of the land with a warmth that makes every walk richer.

When asked what makes walking with us so special, Edo said:
"The combination of exploring those amazing places during the day and relaxing at night in comfortable accommodations with gourmet meals makes a huge difference. But really, it's the passion our team shares for the outdoors and how we pass that on to our guests that makes it unforgettable."

Whether you're trekking Tasmania’s alpine plateaus or Patagonia’s soaring peaks, Edo’s passion and insight are unforgettable. Follow along with Edo's journeys on his Instagram: @duardo86

Michael — Italian Dolomites & Kangaroo Island

Michael’s connection to the land runs deep — from Australia’s rugged Kangaroo Island to the soaring peaks of the Italian Dolomites.

Most of the year, you’ll find Michael guiding along the windswept coastlines of Kangaroo Island. But when Guided by Nature opened its first season in the Dolomites, he jumped at the opportunity to reconnect with his Italian roots and share them with guests.

Michael is one of Tas Walking Co’s most loved guides — his knowledge of flora and fauna is infectious, and his ability to weave stories about the land and its people creates an experience that stays with guests long after the walk ends.

In 2024, we had the chance to follow Michael with a camera around Kangaroo Island. See what he has to say about guiding here in this video: Watch here >

Hamish — Japan’s Ancient Salt Road & Overland Track

If you follow us on Instagram, you might already know Hamish — not just as a guide, but as a talented photographer with an eye for capturing nature at its best.

Hamish is most at home guiding across Tasmania’s Overland Track, but in 2024, he also brought his adventurous spirit to Guided by Nature’s Ancient Salt Road Walk in Japan. A passionate skier and former photography exhibitor in Japan, Hamish already had a deep love for the country — and his knowledge, experience, and creativity made him a natural fit to help guide guests alongside local expert Paul.

Joh —Morocco’s Sahara & Atlas Mountains & Tasmania

Joh’s connection to wild landscapes is heartfelt and genuine. As Tas Walking Co’s Safety, Community & Environment Manager, Joh has spent nearly a decade ensuring our journeys tread lightly and responsibly.

Most recently, Joh traveled to Morocco to experience our Sahara Desert and Atlas Mountains Hiking Journey.  She brought her deep understanding of caring for fragile environments — and her passion for working with communities — to the Moroccan team, adding an extra layer of heart to the journey.

Joh reflects on the experience:
"Walking through villages in the High Atlas Mountains, seeing how people lived and farmed, crossing valleys beneath Toubkal — Morocco’s highest peak — and then reaching the Sahara, where it rained for only the second time in 10 years. We witnessed incredible lightning storms and lush valleys in the Middle Atlas. It was magic."
