We have carefully curated this brand-new journey – our highest altitude trek - starting in Kathmandu and tracing rice fields, forests, rivers, and stone steps, for guests to connect to authentic mountain culture and emerge refreshed in mind and body. The particularly intrepid adventurer will enjoy the exhilaration and perspective that this must-do adventure offers, including flying amid mountain peaks, crossing suspension bridges, visiting tranquil temples and bustling markets, and broadly connecting with the rhythm of mountain life.

Kathmandu - Nepal Hiking

1

Arrive in Kathmandu

Guests are greeted at the airport by our representative for a short transfer to the Dwarika’s, an elegant sanctuary of Newari architecture. In the afternoon, we’ll gather for introductions and journey briefing. Time permitting, we can explore the bustling Asan Bazar before our first communal feast of decadent Nepalese cuisine such as vegetable curries and black dal. 
 

 
Please note that each guest will be provided a down jacket for the duration of the journey, for extra comfort during typically cold evenings. Porters will transport main luggage throughout, while guests carry daypacks for personal items.

Pokhara - Nepal Hiking

2

Fly to Pokhara – Drive & trek to Birethanti

Approximately 3 hours of walking (7km)

We’ll start the day with an early flight to Pokhara, enjoying stunning aerial views of the Himalaya Range during what can be an exhilarating flight! After landing in Nepal’s “Lake City,” a drive takes us to Dhawa, the starting point of our trek. 

The hike begins along a ridgeline in the lower Annapurna foothills, followed by a gentle 45-minute descent to Tomijung, a winsome village of slate-roofed houses and traditional log beehives. After exploring and observing the beekeepers’ meticulous routine, we’ll continue to our lodge amid marigolds and butterflies in the Modi River Valley, where we’ll rest and enjoy the lodge's offerings including Ayurvedic massage and manicured gardens that are perfect for quietly taking in the sacred Machhapuchhre, or Fishtail Mountain. 

Our hosts will explain the cultural significance of this epic peak, and why climbing it is forbidden.

3

Trek to Ghandruk

Approximately 5 hours of walking (12km)

After cups of tea and breakfast, we follow the Modi River Valley, passing farms and climbing gradually through terraced rice fields, tiny villages, and forests with stunning valley views. Reaching Ghandruk, we settle into the lodge, enjoy lunch, and admire close-up views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and glorious Machhapuchhre. 

In the afternoon, our guide invites us to explore and interact in Ghandruk, once a key recruitment centre for legendary Gurkha soldiers and now home to busy rug weaving industry led by local women. After the trip around town, we refresh and rest in comfort at the lodge, and feast further on local fare.

Annapurna Guided Hike - Landruk
Modi Khola, Annapurna Circuit Trek

Trek to Landruk

Approximately 4.5 hours of walking (9km)

We greet a pink Himalayan sunrise over coffee in the Lodge's garden before breakfast and resuming our trek. From Ghandruk, descend 2.5 hours on steep stone steps to Kyumi, known for its honey hunters who scale cliffs to gather the golden nectar. Cross the Modi Khola via a suspension bridge and ascend switchbacks for 2 hours to Landruk. Enjoy lunch at La Bee Lodge, explore the compact terraced village, and take in stunning Annapurna views. Here we enjoy the understated elegance of the Lodge, maybe sip a gin and tonic by the fire, and sleep soundly ahead of another awe-inspiring day amid the Himalayas.

Hike to Majgaun

Approximately 4.5 hours of walking (11km)

After breakfast at La Bee Lodge, hike to Majgaun through sub-tropical forests and traditional villages, enjoying an unfolding landscape and more moments of introspection. We arrive at our lodge in Majgaun for a hot lunch to soothe big appetites, followed by relaxation, massage, or a guided village walk. Retire to bed where a hot water bottle and lush linen keeps any mountain chill at bay.

6

Trek to Dhampus

Approximately 5 hours of walking (12km)

After breakfast, hike 3 hours to Pothana through forests and Tanchowk village. Pass rhododendron trees and Tibetan souvenir traders amid sub-tropical scenes before continuing to Dhampus Lodge that offers massage, bright rooms, a library, and panoramic views of the profoundly still Annapurna Range. Refresh with lunch then explore Dhampus village.

7

Trek to Baskot: transfer to Pokhara

Approximately 3.5 hours of walking (10km)

After breakfast, we leave the lodge, trekking along a ridgeline with even more striking scenes of flawless peaks. Passing forests, terraced farmlands, and rural hamlets, we descend steadily to Hemjakot known for its homestays. A steeper descent via stone stairs brings us to Baskot, where our trek concludes and we transfer to Pokhara. After checking in at Fishtail Lodge, a renowned and sumptuous peninsula resort accessible only by boat, the afternoon is for guests to further explore the surrounds or shop for souvenirs. In the evening, enjoy an optional lakeside dinner then spend our last slumber deep in the mountains.

8

Fly back to Kathmandu

After a hearty breakfast, guests fly back to Kathmandu, offering one last chance to take in the mountain views from above. Upon arrival, you’ll be driven to our starting hotel, the luxurious Dwarika’s.  

The rest of the day is yours to enjoy and explore. Wander through vibrant markets for souvenirs, explore the intricate architecture and bustling atmosphere of Kathmandu Durbar Square, or connect with more stories with a visit to the medieval city of Bhaktapur, famed for its stunning temples and traditional craftsmanship. Your group leader will be available to help plan and arrange any optional excursions.

Guided walking tour of Kathmandu old towns

After breakfast, we explore Kathmandu with a guided walking tour of bustling bazaars, historic old towns, and ancient temples. After lunch, visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa, Nepal’s largest Buddhist monument. Return to the hotel to relax, shop, or explore at your own pace. In the evening, enjoy a final dinner with your travel companions, swapping stories and reflecting on this deeply connective sojourn.
