While planning a personal hiking trip in Patagonia, one of Tasmanian Walking Company’s owners realized that no adventure trip offered the same level of care, hospitality, and connection to nature that Tas Walking Co had been known for. This spark of inspiration led to the creation of Guided by Nature, aiming to offer the same exceptional service and unforgettable experiences Tasmanian Walking Company has provided to nearly 100,000 guests across Australia’s most iconic trails — now expanding to the world’s best hiking destinations.

Tasmanian Walking Company’s Story: A Legacy of Excellence 

Since its inception in 1985, Tasmanian Walking Company has been a pioneer in guided walking experiences. Initially known as Cradle Mountain Huts, Tas Walking Co began by developing an “accommodation-based” guided walk along the Overland Track in Tasmania’s Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. By 1987, the company had constructed private huts along the track, setting the foundation for what would become one of Australia's most iconic multi-day walks. 

In 1999, Tasmanian Walking Company launched the Bay of Fires Lodge Walk (now Bay of Fires Signature Walk), showcasing sustainable, small-scale accommodations designed to minimize environmental impact. This walk was followed by the development of new experiences, such as the Three Capes Track in 2018, which introduced private lodge accommodations in the national park. 

Through the years, Tas Walking Co has continued to expand its offerings, acquiring properties such as the Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk and introducing the Long Weekend Walks series. In 2020, Tasmanian Walking Company launched its bespoke limited-edition itineraries, creating unique experiences for small, specialized groups.
